Eight short plays on the subject of relationships at the Anyi Gallery If you’re thinking of asking someone out on a date, “What are you doing tonight?” could be a confusing question were you to ask that person to go with you to the collection of one-act plays under the umbrella title of What Are You Doing Tonight? Presented by DIJO and Virtual Theatre Productions, and written by local actor/director/writer Ed Giron, these eight short plays on the subject of dating will debut as stage readings on Saturday and Sunday, April 24 and 25, 8 p.m. at the Anyi Gallery, 216 State St. Directed by William Waxman, Carol Metcalf (pictured) and Jerry Oshinsky, the cast features Sean Jackson, Hannah Wade, Alison Waxman, Stuart Orenstein, Aden Hailu and Sean O’ Shea. There is an element of romantic comedy in almost all the plays, but some have serious themes underlying the lightness. “I’m hoping the audience will laugh, maybe shed a tear and also relate on some level to the situations the characters find themselves in,” says Giron. (Dancing Under the Stars photo) By Karen Hermanson for Dancing Under the Stars | Published on 03.09.2015 8:34 a.m. Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Santa Barbara presents the sixth annual “Dancing Under the Stars” from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 15, a local celebrity dance competition and fundraiser to benefit the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara. The event will take place at The Fess Parker DoubleTree Resort Hotel, 633 E. Cabrillo Blvd., and will include a 13-piece orchestra for dancing as well as our featured “celebrity dance-off” and professional dance showcase. The gala includes a silent auction to raise funds for the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation, which helps the families of child cancer patients in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura Counties. Carol Metcalf Hosts Top Comedy Talent at Blind Tiger March 7th

Santa Barbara, CA, March 7, 2015– Carol Metcalf begins her fourth month producing live standup comedy shows at Blind Tiger. The first show of the New Year features headliner Dwayne Perkins, who just filmed a Stand up Special January 11th in LA. His observations on living with roommates, his family and ironic humor is  very funny. Carol Metcalf is a local comedian and actor. Carol has promoted comedy events for over 20 years in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. Blind Tiger is at 409 State Street, phone (805) 957-4111. The Show begins at 8 PM. She recently headlined in San Francisco and Austin. Melanie Baldonado has appeared on Stand Up and Deliver, The Craig Ferguson Show and is a headliner at clubs across the nation.
