Eight short plays on the subject of relationships at the Anyi Gallery

If you’re thinking of asking someone out on a date, “What are you doing tonight?” could be a confusing question were you to ask that person to go with you to the collection of one-act plays under the umbrella title of What Are You Doing Tonight? Presented by DIJO and Virtual Theatre Productions, and written by local actor/director/writer Ed Giron, these eight short plays on the subject of dating will debut as stage readings on Saturday and Sunday, April 24 and 25, 8 p.m. at the Anyi Gallery, 216 State St. Directed by William Waxman, Carol Metcalf (pictured) and Jerry Oshinsky, the cast features Sean Jackson, Hannah Wade, Alison Waxman, Stuart Orenstein, Aden Hailu and Sean O’ Shea. There is an element of romantic comedy in almost all the plays, but some have serious themes underlying the lightness. “I’m hoping the audience will laugh, maybe shed a tear and also relate on some level to the situations the characters find themselves in,” says Giron. Admission is only $5, (plus a suggested additional $5 donation) and available at the door or by advance email reservation at actingkat2015@cox.net
